Mindful Speaking Part 1: Communication

December 17, 2022

In the follow-up to the Generous Listening video series, Mindful Speaking Part 1 delves into the power of inquiring.

TRANSCRIPT

When we talk about communication, we talk about speaking and listening. And we covered listening when we talked about generous listening. So now we're gonna talk about mindful speaking. Mindful speaking part one is inquiring, and this is a skill.

It's not a skill of asking complex questions or trying to say the right thing to someone. It's really about being genuinely curious about what they're saying. So think of this as you standing in their world. So inquiring is asking open ended questions.

These are questions that you don't already have an answer to and you're not guiding people. So it's really being curious, wondering where they're coming from, wondering what else they want to say about that, and again, listening generously through the whole thing.
